Naturopathic Medical Care |
|
Naturopathic Physicians (N.D. ’s) practice a whole system of medicine based on the principles of naturopathic medicine. This includes assessment, diagnosis, and medical management of most conditions utilizing conventional diagnostic tools along with natural therapies and integrative medicine therapies. Naturopathic medicine has a history dating back to the late 1800’s and experienced a resurgence in the 1970’s. Naturopaths are trained in understanding disease from a conventional perspective and a holistic perspective, and they strive to specialize in prevention and treatment of diseases with therapies such lifestyle and dietary interventions, physical medicine, therapeutic exercise, nutritional supplementation, and botanical medicine. In some states, including Washington, N.D.’s can prescribe non-controlled pharmaceutical medications . N.D.’s treat many different conditions and coordinate referrals with other care providers when deemed necessary . In addition, naturopaths are covered by insurance plans in some states including Washington. |
