Physical Medicine |
|
Physical Medicine is a combination of manual, electric, heat, light, sound, and water therapies designed primarily to restore musculoskeletal function. A practitioner of physical medicine may employ manual therapies such as, soft tissue massage, muscle energy stretching, trigger-point release, and osseous manipulation. In addition, they may use hydrotherapy involving the application of heat and cold to stimulate healing. Finally they may use technology such as ultrasound , electrical muscle stimulation, or laser therapy to aid in the healing process. Between treatments patients may be asked to perform home treatments or therapeutic exercises. |
